Parliamentary reception: Libraries Change Lives By Creating Opportunities

The Information Literacy Group are thrilled to announce that we are co-hosting a Parliamentary reception on 21st October 2024. The event aims to connect policymakers with key library sector stakeholders and allies to showcase the power of libraries to create opportunities for everyone.

The event is jointly hosted by CILIP, the Library and Information Association; CILIP’s Information Literacy Group (ILG), School Libraries Group (SLG), Youth Libraries Group (YLG), and Academic and Research Libraries Group (ARLG); CILIP London; the School Library Association (SLA); The Reading Agency; Association of Senior Children’s and Education Librarians (ASCEL); Libraries Connected; and SCONUL.

We’d love to encourage as many Members of Parliament to attend as possible – and for that we need your help! If you are reading this and you live in the UK, please write to your MP to encourage them to attend. You can find out who your MP is and send them a letter at WriteToThem.com.

We have drafted a template letter for you to use, so this should only take you a couple of minutes. Please feel free to amend as needed. MPs receive many communications from constituents, so the more personal you can make your letter, the more likely it will be read and acted upon.

Let us know at cilipilg@gmail.com if you receive a response!
