Attention all Northerners! If you will be in or near Leeds at the start of November, Leeds Libraries has a series of unmissable events taking place.
4-9th November 2024 is the Libraries in Leeds Festival, a celebration of all Leeds libraries – from public libraries to health libraries and archives, and everything in between.
Two events in particular look likely to be of interest to the Information Literacy community. On Monday 4th November, 1-2.30pm three speakers from the University of Leeds, the British Library and CILIP will host a workshop at Leeds Central Library on Information Literacy and Critical Thinking. And on Tuesday 5th November, 6.30-8pm, speakers from the British Library, University of Leeds, Manchester Metropolitan University and Leeds (public) Libraries will discuss AI in Libraries: Beyond the Hype at The Leeds Library, the oldest surviving subscription library in the UK.
As well as these events, the programme is packed with other exciting sessions on topics including supporting dyslexic children to read for pleasure, exploring archive collections, and several author talks.
The Information Literacy Group is delighted to see this regional event showcasing the amazing work of libraries and librarians in many different sectors and settings. Our Yorkshire-based committee members will certainly be putting these dates in their diaries!
