The call for presentations for LILAC, the UK’s annual information literacy conference, opens on 7th October 2024. The Information Literacy Group couldn’t be more excited to see what this year’s submissions, especially as 2025 marks the 20th year of LILAC!
We are particularly keen to hear from newer voices in information literacy, as well as sectors that are often under-represented at LILAC, such as public and school libraries.
We know that if you’ve never presented at LILAC before, submitting an abstract can feel a little daunting. We would encourage you to look at LILAC’s guidance on writing a conference abstract and presenting a poster. We are also delighted this year to announce a new initiative: informal feedback on your draft abstract from the ILG committee.
If you’ve got an idea and you’re not sure if it’s suitable for LILAC, or if you just want someone to look over your abstract before you submit, please get in touch! A member of the ILG committee will respond to you and offer some informal, constructive feedback to help you submit your abstract with confidence.
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please contact cilipilg@gmail.com before 16:00 GMT on Friday 1st November (two weeks before the call for abstracts deadline). We will aim to respond as soon as possible, in time for you to submit your abstract.
Please note that this does not form part of the official blind peer review process for LILAC. All submitted abstracts will still be reviewed by LILAC reviewers. Receiving informal feedback from the ILG committee will not guarantee your abstract is accepted for LILAC: we receive many high quality submissions and not all can be accommodated within the programme.
