Information Literacy Group

We’re recruiting! New roles on our Comms Team

The CILIP Information Literacy Group currently has a number of vacancies on its revamped Communications Team, and is recruiting now! We are looking for three dynamic and committed individuals to join our team of volunteers and help us make further exciting developments to our communications activity across a range of platforms, including this website, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube, and more.

We have two different roles available – Comms Team Member (two posts available) and Digital Platforms Editor. The latter is a new voluntary role to help us update and maintain our WordPress and social media platforms; if you have technical experience with creating and managing websites and social media channels, or are keen to learn, we’d love to hear from you!

The closing date for applications is Friday, April 30th, 2021.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to the work of a busy sub-group of the CILIP IL Group committee; this will include a significant role in implementing the Group’s communication strategy, and helping to deliver our comms activity across a number of different online platforms.

Your application should include the following:

  • Which post you are applying for
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Personal statement detailing your experience and how you meet our requirements (750 words max.)
  • A letter/statement of support from your line manager (where applicable)

Please consult the Comms Team Member and Digital Platforms Editor role descriptions for more details on what is involved. Please note that these are voluntary positions, and there is no remuneration related to the posts.

Applicants are encouraged from all sectors, including new professionals and students who have a particular interest in promoting information literacy. Applicants should be based in the United Kingdom. CILIP is committed to championing diversity, inclusion and representation. We particularly welcome applications from BAME, disabled, LGBTQ+ and male candidates, who have historically been under-represented on our committees.

As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, CILIP Board has set an organisation-wide goal of 20% BAME representation on all of CILIP’s committees by the end of 2022. To facilitate this, we are offering up to 150 complimentary memberships to library and information workers from BAME backgrounds who are duly selected to join a committee before the end of 2022.

Please email your application to Dan Pullinger, Website Manager, at:

The closing date for applications to both roles is Friday, April 30th, 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by May 14th and will be invited to our next online editorial team meeting later this year.

If you have queries about the role, please do not hesitate to contact us at

We look forward to hearing from you!
