What is your role on the committee?
I am part of the Comms Team, contributing as a Communications Officer, supporting the work of CILIP Information Literacy Group.
When did you join and why?
I joined in March 2023. I applied for the role for my professional growth and to learn more about information literacy, my chosen profession and to meet new people. I have been in the library profession for a while, and I feel that I should help out and use my skills to promote IL. Also, it is out of my comfort zone, so why not take the challenge? ๐
What do you do in your role?
I am still learning about the role and have tons of questions (thanks Dan for the patience). I create and publish content, i.e. Twitter and blog posts. I also manage and respond the information literacy group mailbox.
What is your day job?
I recently started as an Academic Services Librarian, for Psychology and Counselling at University of East London (UEL), where I provide student support by conducting one-to-one and embedded sessions and liaising with Psychology and Counselling department. So far, I am finding it challenging and enjoyable. If you have any top tips in working as a subject librarian, feel free to message/comment below ๐
What are your other interests?
I used to take part in choir competitions, where I sang as a soprano. But now, I am more focused on singing with the local church group. I am a chef โฆ at home ๐ I started baking this year and I can proudly say, Iโve been making my own bread for a few months now and have nailed making blueberry muffins.
