What is your role on the committee?
I am the Health Sector Representative.

When did you join and why?

I joined the ILG committee in May 2024 after stepping down from the ILG New Professionals sub-committee, where I had been a member for three years. During this time, I had really enjoyed working with the ILG and also being part of the LILAC committee for LILAC 23 in Cambridge so I was delighted when I was asked to join as the Health Sector representative.

What do you do in your role?
I will be liaising between the Health Sector and the ILG, promoting information literacy to health libraries and raising issues and information literacy topics that are important for health. I’m sure I’ll also learn a lot from the other committee members!

What is your day job?
I work as a Knowledge Specialist at a mental health and community NHS Trust in Reading. My day-to-day role includes evidence searches, delivering training to NHS staff, students and public health staff, marketing and promotion, and a whole heap of other activities. I love working in the health sector because my role includes so many things, so each day is different.
I am also currently undertaking research looking at the attitudes of healthcare staff to information literacy skills when they are studying and returning to study after an academic break, to help inform our student support services.

What are your other interests?
I like challenging my brain through puzzles, video games, escape rooms and anything geeky! I also love the autumn when I can stay indoors, wrap up in homemade knitwear, drink coffee and eat takeaways.
