What is your role on the committee?
I am currently the Marketing and Communications Officer on the Information Literacy Group Committee.
When did you join and why?
I joined as I have a wider interest in Marketing and Communications and wanted to get involved with an active and engaging committee who are very closely linked to my current job role. I had also recently begun working in a role where I could focus more intently upon Information Literacy and wanted to expand my knowledge and network within this area.
What do you do in your role?
I manage the social media and wider CILIP communications for the group as well as paper based and promotional items. I also link up with the web team and advocacy officer to ensure we are meeting our wider strategic aims in a joined up manner. I have only been in this role since December 2016 so I am still learning what exactly it entails.
What is your day job?
I currently work at the University of Sheffield Library within the Library Learning Services Unit as a Senior Library Skills Advisor. I have been in this post since July 2016 previously working in college, public and prison libraries. I am enjoying the focus on learning and Information Literacy but sometimes miss the variety and characters of my previous roles.
What are your other interests?
In my spare time I enjoy theatre, travel, museums and wine tasting. I am currently completing a cycling proficiency course and have signed up for a 50 mile walk over 24 hours. I best get training!
