Emily won the award for her work on a high impact ILG-funded project to increase research capacity and capability amongst her organisation’s nurses, midwives and allied health professionals. This involved designing and delivering a series of highly effective workshops. Co-judge Dina Martzoukou explained that “this direction is innovative as it encourages staff to be research active and this is one of the emerging roles of librarians. It offers a good case in terms of the wider implications and value of information literacy.”

Digital Award for Information Literacy winner: LEAP Online  (Mary Barden, Dawn Grundy, Graeme Prescott & Emily McIntosh, University of Bolton)

LEAP Online is an interactive digital resource suite for promoting student learning development and information literacy at the University of Bolton.

The judges were impressed; Katharine Reedy explained: “this is well thought-through and the front end is visually appealing. It has a strong underpinning framework that enables students to develop their skills in a scaffolded way, with clear links to the curriculum and to employability. There is evidence of positive student engagement with the resource through badges gained and survey feedback.”
