The CILIP Information Literacy Group is pleased to announce the recipient of its bursary to attend the European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL) in October 2016 in Prague.
Kirsten McCormick, a librarian at Glasgow Life public libraries, will attend the event, which will be held at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, from 10-13th October 2016. This is the fourth European Conference on Information Literacy, a key event in the IL calendar that attracts delegates from around the world and is supported by IFLA and UNESCO.
Kirsten told us what she is looking forward to most about the conference:
Information literacy is an essential part of lifelong learning, digital citizenship and social inclusion. Tackling the digital divide and improving access to learning for vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and groups are high on the agenda in the city of Glasgow. This year’s line-up of expert speakers have an agenda that goes beyond the education sector and that’s what motivated me to apply for the bursary. Thanks to ILG, I have a valuable opportunity to gain an insight into the latest developments and best practice in the field that will help inform Glasgow Libraries’ information literacy strategy.
