CILIP Information Literacy Group – committee changes: new Marketing and Communications Officer: Kate Grigsby

The CILIP Information Literacy Group is delighted to welcome Kate Grigsby to the role of Marketing and Communications Officer on the IL Group Committee. Kate will be taking over the role from Emma Burnett who has been in this post since 2010. Kate will be having a handover from Emma in due course. The IL Group thanks Emma for all her hard work in this role. Emma will still be one of the web editorial team members, maintaining this IL website.  Please see below for an introduction to Kate and her career in libraries so far.

I have been working in libraries since 2006, graduating with an MA in Librarianship from the University of Sheffield in 2012. Currently I work at the University of Sheffield as a Senior Library Skills Advisor delivering and developing Information and Digital Literacy skills sessions within the Library Learning Services Unit.

Kate Grigsby – new CILIP IL Group Marketing and Communications Officer

I have previously worked in management roles in prison, public and further education libraries. My concern regarding Information Literacy stems from experience within public and prison libraries assisting customers in meeting their information needs with skills support. This  interest was developed more comprehensively  within the further education sector through planning and delivering induction and study skills sessions. My current role allows me to focus on Information Literacy and teaching practice more extensively.

I am particularly interested in the transition from school and college to university, Information and Digital Literacy in relation to social inequality and the co-development of skills sessions with students.
