CILIP Information Literacy Group AGM and Annual Report 2016/17

The CILIP ILG AGM took place at LILAC yesterday evening, and had a record attendance, perhaps due to the delicious cupcakes which were complete with the new logo.

Firstly, Deputy Chair Rowena Macrae-Gibson welcomed everyone to the AGM, before Treasurer Elaine Sykes gave a report on the ILG accounts.

The ILG Chair, Jane Secker, then reported on the work of the past year. The ILG has a new logo which brings together the different parts of the ILG – JIL and LILAC. A new Marketing & Communications Officer, Kate Grigsby, has joined the committee.  ILG is looking to develop an action plan for this year to reflect the CILIP action plan. A new definition of information literacy is coming soon, and the group has been working with CILIP on this. There will be an evaluation of the TeenTech work to see what the next steps will be beyond the existing resource sheets. The 10th anniversary of JIL is approaching so there will be a special issue to celebrate this. The ILG sponsors IL events and Jane encourages people to apply for this. The pedagogy for librarians course is planned to run again, and will be subsidised by the ILG. There will be a sponsored place at ECIL this year and the group is in the early stages of providing copyright training for librarians. More online support will also be provided. There is a current committee vacancy for a health library rep, which will be advertised soon (watch this space!).

The 2016/17 annual report highlights these successes and changes. The full report is available to download via the link below.
