anybook.com (previously anybook.biz) is a second-hand book company that was founded in 1998, in Greenwich, in a small room sandwiched between a travel agent and a post office – which turned out to be rather handy!
Over 25 years later, anybook.com is working with hundreds of libraries (mainly University libraries) across the United Kingdom and has raised millions of pounds for libraries in the process.
We specialise in taking withdrawn library stock, selling it on the internet, and giving a portion of the profits back to the libraries. By taking this work off the to-do list, we free up time for your library to focus on achieving your mission—serving your students, teaching them research skills, and empowering them to become information literate citizens.
How we work…
- We take all withdrawn stock, with or without ISBN, in all conditions, hardback or paperback.
- We do not require you to pre-scan your books or send lists of titles in advance.
- We recycle only as a last resort. We do not use landfill.
- We collect at a time that suits you, everything will be arranged in advance with you.
- As soon as the books start selling, you start making money
Why we think we can help
- We are not a charity. We aim to generate the most income from a library’s withdrawn stock, in order to give the most back. Once your books start selling, what happens with that money is up to you. We do not make any decisions for you.
- As we use our own drivers, they will collect from any point in the library or wherever you need them to. We do our best to make it as easy as possible for you.
- We realise that librarians are always pushed for time, so our drivers are happy to pack books up for you.
- Alternatively, we’re able to post empty boxes out to you, free of charge.
- If you sign up, you can use us as much or as little as you like, you are not bound by any contract.
- We can collect as many boxes of books as you want, from 1 box to 1000 boxes (or more)!
- We provide an online portal where you may request pickups, request payments, monitor the sale of individual books, and view recycling statistics etc.
- We do not charge for our services, at all!
