Meet the ILG Comms Team: Matt Bryan

What is your role on the committee?

Matt Bryan
Matt Bryan

I’ve just taken on the role of Digital Platforms Editor for the Comms Team of the ILG.

When did you join and why?

I joined the ILG comms team in May 2021. I have recently developed a real interest in digital capabilities and improving digital skills for both myself and others. I felt this post was a great opportunity to improve my skills whilst sharing my own knowledge and expertise. I also felt it would be a good creative outlet for me whilst promoting digital literacy.

What do you do in your role?

I will be looking after the digital platforms for the ILG including maintaining, refreshing and updating the website, the Youtube channel, LinkedIn and Twitter. I’ll also look into potential other platforms which could increase the scope for promoting the ILG within the different sectors.

What is your day job?

I’ve been a Librarian at Harper Adams University since 2016. The University only has around 4500 students meaning the library has a very small team therefore my role incorporates many different aspects of librarianship. I’m the liaison librarian for Food/ Business courses and CEWG (Countryside, Environment, Wildlife and Geography), lead on digital capabilities, teach information literacy, support for the systems librarian, head the marketing team, responsible for both reading list and digitisation services, cover enquiries and a multitude of other things. Whatever gets thrown my way really. This variety in my role keeps the job interesting and also gives me a really good knowledge base on all aspects of the library and university as a whole.

What are your other interests?

I’m a Rocker, Wolves fan, Dad and Husband (not necessarily in that order but possibly!!!)

I was in a band many moons ago and music (mostly with guitars in – haven’t really got much time for bleeping and beats) has always been a passion. Anything from delta blues to 60s psych to doomy/stoner rock but probably mostly early 90’s alternative rock is where my heart lies.

I’m a season ticket at the church us Wulfrunians call the Molineux and will be overwhelmed when me, my son and nephew can get back there on a regular basis.
