Coffee Meeting

Meet the IL Website Team: Róisín Cassidy

What is your role on the committee?

I am one of the web editors of the IL website. The website editorial group is a sub-group of the CILIP Information Literacy Group.

When did you join and why?

I joined the group in 2013.  I was just moving away from an academic liaison librarian role to pursue a new direction as a Technology Enhanced Learning Advisor; I saw this as a great opportunity to maintain my interest in information literacy and links with the library world, whilst strengthening the web editing skills central to my new role. I also think of it as a good way to give back to a welcoming learning community that has served me well to date!

What do you do in your role?

First and foremost, I do my bit towards the general upkeep of the IL website blog (sourcing and writing posts etc.). Alongside Jade, I also maintain the teaching section of the website – particularly the ‘Pedagogic theory’ and ‘Teaching techniques’ areas.

What is your day job?

I am a Digital Learning Manager with Save the Children. I work in the Humanitarian Capacity Building team, providing advice, support and guidance in the development of online and mobile education for humanitarian staff and volunteers.

What are your other interests?

Well, I’ve just moved cities so my main recreational activity at the minute is navigating London Transport. In doing so, you’ll generally find me listening to some kind of true-crime podcast. I’d like to say I’m the outdoorsy type but in truth, I’m an armchair detective with an addiction to courtroom/political dramas and winning at Cluedo.
