Introducing the ILG New Professionals – Ellie Sheppard

Ellie Sheppard, woman with blonde hair

What is your role on the committee?

I am a member of the ILG Sub-Committee for New Professionals.

When did you join and why?

As a New Professional in the industry, I’m always looking for new ways to meet other information professionals, and combined with my passion for Information Literacy, this role was perfect! I studied information Literacy during my MA, and found the techniques involved to be very interesting.

What do you do in your role?

I have only recently joined the committee, so at the moment I am attending meetings, and being involved with planning and implementing the Randomised Coffee Trials.

What is your day job?

I am currently a Data Governance Manager at King’s College London. I studied information governance during my MLIS, and decided to go down this route. It’s a very enjoyable role, and information literacy plays a surprisingly large part when educating people regarding their data rights and regulations.

What are your other interests?

In my free time I enjoy staying active, and love running! Like most librarians, I am big into reading, and I especially enjoy horror and science fiction books. I also currently have six houseplants (and counting!), which take up a surprising amount of my time, as well as a particularly needy 13 year-old rescue cat, Tilly.
