Continuing with our series welcoming the new members of the ILG Sub-Committee for New Professionals, we’d like to introduce Antonis Sideras. The purpose of this group is to bring together new library professionals and contribute towards the work of the Information Literacy Group.
What is your role in the committee?
I a new member of the ILG New Professionals Sub-committee.
When did you join and why?
I joined in the summer of 2021. I am also currently a student on the Library & Information Services Management postgraduate programme at Sheffield University (distance-learning). I was very pleased to learn about Information Literacy (IL) and Teaching as a Librarian through my course. We also got to explore practical applications of IL throughout different library and information services sectors. I joined this group due to my interest in IL as well as wanting to help illustrate the importance of IL to new professionals.
What is your day job?
I have been working as a Library Assistant at University of the Arts London Library Services for the past three years.
What are your other interests?
Outside library work, I am an artist working with multiple media including performance, self-publishing, video and more. I often find myself enjoying fiction books, films and television shows in the horror, drama and (supernatural) fantasy genres.
