The fourth edition of Icepops (Icepops 2023) will be held at the University of Glasgow at the Advanced Research Centre on Thursday 20th July 2023. It will form part of a festival of copyright events running from 19-21 July in partnership with CREATe (UK Copyright and Creative Economy Centre) at the University of Glasgow. We have long been admirers of CREATe’s work, and this opportunity to align our accessible and playful approach to copyright with their world-leading research agenda promises to make this the best Icepops so far. There will be an evening social and various satellite events on the day preceding and following the conference, but watch this space for more info.
Our first confirmed keynote speaker will be Professor Nicola Whitton. Nicola is Director of the Durham Centre for Academic Development and Professor of Education at Durham University, UK. Her research focuses on play in adulthood, in particular games and learning in the context of Higher Education, and the potential of play in teaching, research, and academic practice.
We will also be hosting a workshop with the CREATe eLending Project team which will examine the law and economics of eBooks markets in Europe. Further speakers to be announced soon, however the call for contributions is now open so if you want to present at the conference, get your thinking caps on. The call for proposals will be open until Monday 27th March 2023. We will notify you by Monday 10th April to confirm whether your submission has been accepted and all speakers will need to be registered at the conference.
We anticipate opening registration for Icepops soon.
