What is the theme?

The event will focus on teaching more successfully. Information literacy good practice can be utilised to identify free tools / apps, search for available software, digitising and requesting resources, and highlighting support available.  The aim is to develop staff information literacy skills, as library and information professionals should be making a significant contribution to increasing digital inclusion and participation. This inclusion is dependent upon these professionals having the capabilities and knowledge to promote inclusivity and accessibility. At the event, anyone can share great ideas they’ve used in their library, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. The outcome will be a greater understanding of accessibility, focusing on the user experience.

How does it work?

Attendees are asked to consider delivering a presentation, up to 10 minutes in length, on an innovative topic in line with the theme. The number of speakers will be limited so please get your application in early if you would like to do this. Alternatively, you are welcome to attend as an enthusiastic audience member who is happy to join in the discussions, share ideas and develop learning opportunities.

When is it?

Wednesday, 14th December, 2016, 14:00-16:30. Lunch is included and refreshments will be served throughout the event. (Please notify the organisers if you have any specific dietary needs).

Where is it?

Staffordshire University’s new Beacon Building is on College Road, Stoke-on-Trent. It takes approx. five minutes to travel from Stoke railway station to the venue. The university has a green travel policy and it is recommended that you use public transport for your visit. Parking is available at the railway station. Please let the event organisers know if you have any specific access requirements.

Can I just come along and not present?

Of course! It wouldn’t work without some enthusiastic audience members, so feel free to come along, but you will be asked to join in discussions and share your ideas and experiences. Just remember to book your place as numbers are limited.
