LILAC: The Information Literacy Conference will take place from 21-23 April 2027 at
City St George’s, University of London and the call for presentations is now open.
LILAC 2027 will include a range of refreshed presentation types to better reflect
proposals. These will showcase new and different approaches to information literacy
(IL) and give presenters a range of format choices.
The 30 minute Practitioner Presentation replaces the Short Paper and aims to give
presenters a platform to focus on the special work done by IL practitioners across our
communities. This proposal option is for any informal IL library or workplace project you
have undertaken which has altered your practice in some way. To highlight the research
done in our sector, the 60-minute Research Presentation, replacing the Long
Presentation, is the perfect format if you have undertaken IL research (maybe you have
recently finished a library, information studies or education qualification?) and want to
disseminate your findings in some detail.
The new Podcast format allows some flexibility in how people deliver their ideas.
Podcasts are 15 minutes long and can be on an aspect of IL you feel passionately
about or to reflect on your practice.
The popular Panel Discussion format, where experiences are shared by a diverse range
of panel members, giving differing voices and experiences, will continue to be an option
in 2027. LILAC has had some really interesting Panel Discussions over the years.
Workshops, which allow you to share your classroom originality with others are also
available and both Panel Discussions and Workshops are 60 minutes.
To recognise the creative direction in information literacy evident in articles in the
Journal of Information Literacy and at LILAC sessions, we have a new format called
Creative Project. This option is for creative approaches to IL whether this is in relation to
outreach, activities that go beyond the traditional classroom, methods, professional
development, teaching locations and more. It could also be that you want to use
creativity in the way you convey your innovative IL ideas to delegates. There are some
suggestions on how you could make use of this new format but we are open to your
creative ideas!
Finally, Posters are ideal for people new to sharing ideas at a conference and Lightning
Talks are perfect if you only need 7 minutes to present your work as a part of a small
group of presentations.
