Information Literacy, data and evidence removal in the US on Thu 26 Feb 2026 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
During the US government shutdown in October and November of last year, many of us saw the notice on the PubMed website warning that information on the site may not be being updated. For many of us in the information literacy community, this brought into focus how events in the US are affecting our own access to and use of information.
Join us on Thursday 26th February from 2-3pm to hear from Isobel Eddyshaw, an Academic Liaison Librarian at the University of Exeter.
Isobel has been supporting librarians, students and information professionals on the current situation in the US through the Libguide on Alternatives to United States NLM, which many of us have been utilising during this time of immense change.
In this talk, Isobel will go through and explain some of the current changes in the US, their impact on data and evidence removal on databases, as well as how she put together the LibGuide. Join us for a 30 minute presentation, followed by a 30 minute Q and A and come along for a chance for us as information professionals to discuss our concerns and share how changes in the US are affecting our practice.
The event is free for CILIP members, and £5 for non-CILIP members. Please sign up here: https://www.tickettailor.com/ events/ cilipinformationliteracygroup/ 2014393
We try to make these events as accessible as possible, so if you are a student or unwaged, please email events.ilg@cilip.org.uk for a code to sign up to the event for free. CILIP members do not need to contact us for a code.
