Introducing LILAC learning sets

Keep that LILAC buzz going with LILAC Learning Sets!

We all know the feeling: LILAC is incredible! You forge brilliant connections throughout the three conference days, and leave buzzing with intellectual momentum. But let’s be honest, that momentum and those connections can sometimes fade away in the busy months following the conference.

We want to explore ways to keep that LILAC energy going year-round and enable newer community members to build the kind of valuable relationships that so many of us cherish.

Introducing the LILAC Learning Sets Pilot!

At LILAC 2026, the Information Literacy Group (ILG) is launching a pilot of an annual LILAC Learning Sets programme. This programme is designed to harness conference enthusiasm and maintain professional engagement throughout the subsequent 12 months.

If you sign up, you’ll be allocated into a small “learning set” with colleagues from diverse organisations, geographical locations, and career stages. By taking part, you’ll be equipped to forge meaningful contacts that expand your professional network beyond your immediate workplace.

The programme provides a structure for continuous, deep reflection and discussion of the learning points and concepts you pick up at LILAC. You will be learning from each other’s practice and developing your knowledge of information literacy initiatives across different organisations. Plus, participation can provide valuable evidence for professional development milestones like HEA accreditation or CILIP Chartership.

For further details on the pilot programme, please see this summary post: LILAC Learning Sets Pilot:_Further Information.

What’s the commitment?

As this is a pilot, participation is limited to in-person attendees at LILAC 2026. If you join, you will be expected to:

  1. Attend the LILAC Learning Sets introductory workshop at the conference itself. This is where you meet your set!
  2. Commit to attending the majority of the four structured, online meetings that the ILG will host between LILAC 2026 and LILAC 2027.

Proposed dates for the online meetings are May 2026, August 2026, November 2026, and February 2027.

Ready to sign up?

We really hope you will take part! If you are interested, please register using the expressions of interest form below. It’s just to gather interest, not a binding commitment. Even if you’re unsure about attending LILAC 2026, please register anyway so we can keep you updated.

If you register, we will be in touch when workshop bookings open for LILAC 2026 with further details on how to fully join the programme. We hope to see you in Sheffield!
