What is the theme?

The event will focus on activities and projects on resource discovery that have enhanced the user experience, with the aim of sharing tips, techniques and strategies that librarians can easily integrate into their own practice. Examples might include: improvements in resource discovery tools; integrating open access resources; the development of online support using a VLE; libguides or webpages; and resource discovery projects focusing on the user experience.  Anyone can share great ideas they’ve used in their library, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations.

How does it work?

Attendees are asked to consider delivering a presentation, up to 10 minutes in length, on an innovative topic in line with the theme. The number of speakers will be limited so please get your application in early if you would like to do this. Alternatively, you are welcome to attend as an enthusiastic audience member who is happy to join in the discussions, share ideas and develop learning opportunities.

When is it?

Thursday, 19th March, 2015, 10.30-14:00.  Lunch is included and refreshments will be served throughout the event. (Please notify the organisers if you have any specific dietary needs).

Where is it?

Staffordshire University’s Thompson Library, in the Cadman Building on College Road, Stoke-on-Trent. It takes approx. five minutes to travel from Stoke railway station to the venue. The university has a green travel policy and it is recommended that you use public transport for your visit. Parking at the train station costs £4 (off-peak rate). Please let the event organisers know if you have any specific access requirements.

Can I just come along and not present?

Of course! It wouldn’t work without some enthusiastic audience members, so feel free to come along, but you will be asked to join in discussions and share your ideas and experiences. Just remember to book your place as numbers are limited.
