The CILIP Information Literacy Group are pleased to present a double event to help kick start your CPD for 2015.
Join us at the Library of Birmingham on Tuesday 10th February where we will be hosting the next CILIP Debate: ‘This house believes that the role of Librarian should be that of Teacher’
The debate will be chaired by Dr Jane Secker and debaters include:
- Darren Smart, Policy & Advocacy Officer, CILIP Public and Mobile Libraries Group
- Geoff Walton, Library School Representative for CILIP North East Member Network
- Emma Coonan, Information Skills Librarian at University of East Anglia
This debate is open to all including non-members of CILIP. Please register via the Eventbrite registration form.
Prior to the debate we are also offering a training workshop, Improving IL through reflection. Delivered by Dr Barbara Sen, a senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield’s Information School, this workshop will focus on the application of reflective practice for information literacy. Delegates will learn how reflection can be used to develop IL session planning and evaluation, and improve future practice. We will consider how group reflection can be used both with the people we train, and within library teams.
This is event is free for CILIP Information Literacy Group members. Tickets for non-members cost £25. Book now to avoid disappointment.
Further information about IL Group membership is available on our CILIP pages. If you have any additional queries about booking, please contact the Training Officer, Catherine McManamon.
We look forward to seeing you at one or both parts of the day in Birmingham!
