Are you an NHS librarian who wants to know more about teaching literature searching, critical appraisal, and reflective practice? We are running an event for health librarians, and others who offer teaching and training in the health field, to collaborate and share their teaching experiences.
This session will include short presentations on teaching critical appraisal, teaching how to search on the new Hub, and teaching reflective practice, with breakout rooms between each session for discussion. The session will focus on collaboration and sharing your own experiences of teaching and training, and will be a safe space to discuss how you’ve previously taught each of these areas and learn what has, and hasn’t worked.
We will be joined by Sarah Gardner (NHS Doncaster and Bassetlaw) to talk on teaching critical appraisal; Katie Smith (NHS Berkshire) to talk on ‘From FEW to FAF – Evolution of our searching training and teaching people the Knowledge and Library Hub’; and Bethan Morgan (NHS Manchester) – ‘Designing and delivering reflective practice workshops across a large NHS trust, including what is covered in the session, and what worked (and didn’t) in practice’. There will be plenty of time between each presentation for discussion and reflection on each of these areas. We want to encourage the sharing of knowledge between participants, and we welcome all levels of experience, whether you’ve been doing it for years or are just beginning.
Join us on Teams on Thursday 4th September from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, sign up here: https://buytickets.at/ cilipinformationliteracygroup/ 1808577
The focus of this event will be health libraries, but this session is open to all, so will be of interest to anyone teaching information literacy in healthcare related areas!
This event is free for CILIP members, and £5 for non-CILIP members.
