The CILIP Information Literacy Group and LILAC conference committee are pleased to announce that the LILAC Student Awards are now open for applications. The winners of the LILAC 2020 bursaries have also been announced!
LILAC student awards – applications open!
We are happy to announce that we are now accepting applications for the Rowena Macrae-Gibson Award, which enables two students to attend the LILAC Conference. The award includes a full conference place, including the networking evening and conference dinner, and UK travel and accommodation expenses up to the value of £225.
The award is aimed at newly qualifying professionals and applications will close Friday 7th February, 2020 (17.00 GMT).
The Rowena Macrae-Gibson Award honours the late Deputy Chair of the Information Literacy Group Rowena Macrae-Gibson, in recognition of her contribution in inspiring new professionals.
LILAC 2020 bursary winners
Our congratulations to Ashley Tracey, Emma Cawley, Siobhan Linsey, Hannah Bennett and Marion Harris who are the winners of the 2020 LILAC bursaries! We look forward to welcoming them to Manchester!
- Ashley Tracey is the Library Manager of Wembley Public Library in Brent, the borough of culture for 2020. He is currently focussed on increasing literacy amongst young males and talking to anyone who will listen about the great work of libraries.
- Emma Cawley is an assistant subject librarian at the University of Chester, working with students in the health & social care and science & engineering faculties across two sites.
- Siobhan Linsey is the Outreach Librarian for the Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust alliance.
- Hannah Bennett is Library Manager at Robert May’s School. New to School Libraries she previously worked in Further Education and started her career as a Library Assistant in her local Public Library.
- Marion Harris studied Music at the University of Birmingham, and began her library career in 2011 as a Graduate Trainee at the University of Essex. Marion moved into the Further Education sector in 2018, taking up a Librarian role at New City College, London.
