Sarah Mcnicol will be running a free, half day workshop, 1300-1600, at Manchester Metropolitan University, on critical literacy for school librarians. Critical literacy has been described as a ‘new basic’. It is a set of skills, dispositions and strategies intended to enable students “to challenge text and life as we know it” (McLaughlin & DeVoogd).
